Marsh St Johns-Wort (Hypericum elodes)

Marsh St Johns-Wort is a stolon-forming, creeping perennial herb with upright stems bearing groups of yellow flowers. Hairs on its circular to oval grey/green leaves prevent the plant being wetted when submerged. It is found in shallow water in bogs, fens, pondsides and streamsides on acid soils or may form floating masses in deeper water.

Marsh St Johns-Wort is found on a number of sites in Northern Ireland but habitats continue to be threatened by drainage. It has been identified as a Species of Conservation Concern in the UK and in Northern Ireland because of its rarity and decline in distribution.
