Water Mint (Mentha aquatica)
Water Mint is a common plant of fens and fresh water margins,
becoming partially or completely submerged in water. It is very
similar in appearance to other varieties of mint and is often
easiest distinguished by the location where it is found, as
other varieties prefer drier habitats. It has highly aromatic
foliage and develops rounded heads of tiny pink flowers in late
summer. It is widespread and common throughout Northern Ireland.
