National Nature Reserves

Nature Reserves are areas of importance for their flora, fauna, geological or other features of special interest. The Environment and Heritage Service declares these sites under the Nature Conservation and Amenity Lands Order 1985. To date 47 National Nature Reserves have been declared, 8 of which are Peatland sites.

Nature Reserves are often owned by the Environment and Heritage Service, and as such access is possible to some of the sites.
