Moneygal Bogs

The Moneygal Bog system represents a large area of intact lowland raised bog, with a well-developed dome, hummock and pool complex. Old hand cuttings provide additional habitat diversity and are an integral part of the natural hydrology of the bog. The cuttings are dominated by a mosaic of regenerating bog, drier, raised banks dominated by Heather and occasional pockets of flushed acid grassland. The area provides an important habitat for birds. snipe, woodcock and meadow pipit have all been recorded.

There is no public access to the site.
