Location - Feegarran; Lissan; Cookstown.
Description
This site consists of a stone causeway traversing the narrowest point
of a small raised bog. It is approx. 56m long & 1.35m wide. Excavation
discovered no dateable finds with the trackway. It consisted of 3 main
phases of construction; 1.the earliest, a fragile Birch trackway: 2.a
boulder built causeway & 3.a heavy timber trackway. The stone phase
was made up of Gabbro boulders bound together with turf sods. On a hill
slope several fields away to the north, 120 flint flakes were found in
a circle 20ft in diameter.
