Location - Cloghbane; Fallylea; Killelagh; Magherafelt.

Description
This site is designated "Giants Grave" on the ordinance survey 6"maps & the 1972 map shows "Giant's Grave - chambered In an area of upland grazing with ground sloping down to SW & rising NW. The site is set against a field boundary comprising a bank at the north and a ditch at the south. A large stone lies across the ditch & there are several more in the boundary to NW. The stone in the ditch is 1.75m long & 0.8m wide. It is not possible to classify this site from the scattered remains, but it was probably a megalithic tomb of some kind.

This site is described in the ordinance survey memoir as "another of the old graves...14ft long x 8'8" broad...enclosed by very large & long flagstones sunk on their edge on the surface, including large block stones as supporters for canopy stones. Though now dilapidated, there are still...3 stone columns, one 5ft long, the 2nd 3ft long, the 3rd 3ft long. Beside many of the side stones there are 2 canopy stones lying on the grave...6-7ft each". No further details available at present.

Description
In upland bog with good views SSE-S-W & NW-N-NE. This impressive court tomb is orientated NW-SE with the court at the SE end, 4.6m across at the widest point. The 1st chamber leading from it is visible & accessible,1.62m x 1.15m. There appears to be at least one more chamber running back from this one, but not visible. The covering cairn is 26.5m long & the NW end of the tomb is 9m wide. A 2nd gallery crosses the NW end of the cairn, its sidewalls composed of upright stones, but the capstones are missing. It was excavated in 1940, revealing an antechamber & 2 chambers, late Neolithic decorated bowls, flint tools & a cremation of an adult human. The ordinance survey memoirs record "3 urns of bones" found a few yards from the tomb.
