Peatland

Location - Aughlish; Banagher; Limavady.

Description
This site is described by Davies in 1939 as 5 stone circles, 2 with tangential alignments, & one with an inner smaller circle & 2 standing stones at either end of a diameter. No further details available at present.

Location - Ballyholly; Cumber Upper; Derry.

There are 2 stone circles at this site

Description 1
On very rough upland peat lands, the area seems to have been very much disturbed, probably by peat cutting, since it was recorded in 1940. The site now consists of some 19 slabs, mainly small, standing c.0.4m above the peat. Many can only be found by probing the turf. The stones seem to run in straight lines, rather than in arcs. The site is described as a circle 20ft diameter with double alignment and a 2nd circle 45ft in diam with an alignment running off into uncut turf. There were also 4 stones, which were seen as a part of a possible 3rd circle to SE.

Description 2
This area of this site is now greatly obscured by Heather. It is described as comprising a stone circle, 20ft in diam. with a double alignment. NW of this was a large circle of 11 standing stones 45ft in diam., surrounding c.25 stones just appearing through the bog. An alignment 30ft long ran from this into uncut turf. Today, only one clear circle, 7.4m in diam. can be seen, on the east side of the scheduled area. On the west part what may be the capstone of a chamber, which other potentially interesting stones, are present.
