Description
A number of oak logboat fragments to have emerged in 1996-7 from a layer
of peat, underlying a layer of marine mud which forms the western shoreline
of Larne Lough. One piece consists of a floor with the remains of sides,
measuring 5.4m in length, 65cm in width and 20cm in height. Radiocarbon
analysis has dated the piece at (4750+/- 35 BP) - Neolithic or conceivably
Early Bronze Age.
